- Establish eye contact – regardless of whether you stutter or not, it demonstrates to your listener that you are confident in what you are staying.
- Slow down your speech rate – slowing down does not mean that you won’t stutter but it does give you a better ability to control your fluency
- Decrease the ‘filler’ words – using words such as like, um, so, etc. does not help you stutter any less. They help to get over the hump but they will not prevent future stuttering from occurring.
